Microelectronics

The Microelectronics Laboratory, located in an ISO Class 7 (Class 10,000) Clean Room, is dedicated to the fabrication and assembly of custom RF, microwave, and microelectronic integrated component systems with demonstrated performance up to 40 GHz. Capabilities include epoxy attachment of MMIC, microelectronic DIE, and substrate materials as well as ultrasonic wire bonding with wire sizes as small as 0.7 mil diameter.

Testing capabilities include a DC-to-40 GHz coplanar probe station and an HP8510FX Network Analyzer with operation up to 110 GHz.

The microelectronics facility primarily supports research and design efforts of radar, electronic warfare and countermeasures, and missile guidance systems as well as the small scale production of these devices.

  • Developed several generations to address evolving threat-increased functionality with significant size and weight reduction achieved in successive generations.
  • Thirty-one units produced to date by Phase IV Systems with flight testing performed to prove out design.
  • Two generations of device being produced for incorporation into currently available missile platforms.
